CONFERENCE OVERVIEWThe Virginia Piper Cancer Institute Breast Center in conjunction with Consulting Radiologists Ltd. plan each year this one-day conference with specialists from multiple fields who will present information about breast health and the care of patients: an area that is rapidly changing as a result of advances in prevention, screening, and detection.  Topics this year include:  Joining forces with your technologist to improve patient care through image quality to communication and more, a technologists perspective of being "on the other side of a mammogram",  updates on breast imaging, surgical and medical oncologic treatments for breast cancer, as well as programs available for cancer patients and their caregivers, including techniques to address caregiver fatigue. TARGET AUDIENCE This conference is designed for surgeons who specialize in breast surgery, medical oncologists, pathologists, genetic counselors, rehabilitation physicians, physical therapists, plastic/reconstructive surgeons, registered nurses, healing coaches, radiologists, radiology technologists and any other interested allied health care professional in the areas of primary care, internal medicine, family practice and OB/Gyn. KEYNOTE SPEAKERLOUISE C. MILLER, R.T.(R)(M)(ARRT), CRT(M), FSBI, FNCBC, DIRECTOR OF EDUCATIONLouise is the co-founder of Mammography Educators and has made a significant impact on the field of breast imaging on a local, national, and international level. In 2014, Louise authored a Positioning Guidebook, the first published in over 20 years. In 1999, Louise co-authored a textbook, The Handbook of Mammography, 4th and 5th Edition. Both publications feature her unique teaching/learning approaches and specialized techniques. In 2011, Louise was awarded the National Consortium of Breast Centers (NCBC) Impact Award, the first mammography technologist to be chosen for this prestigious national honor, which recognizes outstanding dedication, commitment, achievement and overall impact on breast cancer detection worldwide. In March of 2017, the National Consortium of Breast Centers nominated Louise Miller as Fellow of NCBC. This designation recognizes Louise for her expertise, knowledge and leadership in breast related contributions and education in the field. In April of 2017, Louise was given the distinguished title of the Society of Breast Imaging (SBI) Honorary Fellow. This award is given annually to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to breast imaging. Furthermore, in July of 2017, Louise Miller was appointed Consumer Representative for the National Mammography Quality Assurance Advisory Committee. This is a prestigious role where she will be acting as a patient advocate for women all across the U.S. She will be advising on developing appropriate quality standards and regulations for mammography facilities. However, the nurse is responsible for determining whether this activity meets the requirements for acceptable continuing education. PENDING ONCC (Oncology Certified Nurse) – This activity has been submitted for review to the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) for 5.50 ILNA Points.   ONCC recently revised the process for ILNA coding to streamline the process and provide consistency across credentials as much as possible. Rather than coding courses for each credential, we are now coding content that may apply across credentials and allow nurses to earn CE credit in broader categories. Any course or program that has been accredited for 4 CE or less can be applied in full, or split in any category that reasonably fits the content for which the nurse needs ILNA points. Other - Individuals representing other professional disciplines may submit conference materials to their respective professional associations for 5.50 hours of continuing education credit if the content is applicable to the area of license renewal. In addition, you may be required to provide proof of attendance to the board upon request. TUTION & REGISTRATON DEADLINE- Thursday, February 27/MidnightTotal tuition is made up of the tuition price + fees.
